WE LET THE DAWGS OUT has been an opportunity for the art
industry to give back to the community and recognize its artists, galleries,
and supporters. On April 29, 2003, a celebration of the art and the artists
was held.
All 36 bulldawgs were gathered in the Grand Hall of The
Classic Center for the Unleashing Party. Over 500 people attended this glorious
evening. With a scrumptious menu planned by the Holiday Inn (under the direction
of Darrell Magrino) and adorable dawg motif decorations by Posy Henson of
Jingles, the evening was a delight. You could feel the enthusiasm as guests
entered the room and saw the bulldawgs for the first time. People literally
ran to get a better look at Gretchen Fennel's tribute to Elvis, "Ain't
Nothing But a Hound Dawg".

|
| We were very honored to
have many special friends from the Georgia Federation of Women's
Clubs attend. L to R: Lucy Williard, Deanna Anglin,
Dr. Kent Anglin, Chris Harmon and Diane Loeble. |
|
As guests arrived at the event, they were given a ballot
to vote for their favorite Bulldawg. All the Dawgs were well-loved, and people
agonized over which dawg to vote for, but when all the ballots were counted,
"Carmen Mirandawg" by artists Cathe
and Ron Stein, sponsored by Slippers, walked away with "Best of Show".
Gretchen Fennel's "Ain't Nothing but a Hound
Dawg", with Computerland as a patron, received second place. Brent
Chitwood's "Game Dawg", sponsored
by St. Mary's Home Health Care, took third place honors.

The evening's excitement peaked with the raffle of two big
dawgs. The Classic Center Arts Foundation was the patron and beneficiary
of "Sunflower", by artist Robin Fay. This indigo and yellow floral
masterpiece was won by Jeri Cancel, who traveled from Denver, Colorado, to
attend the Unleashing Party. "Glory Days"
by artist Sandy Hale, was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Little and Mr. and
Mrs. Steve Ebbert, and the proceeds donated to the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes. Jack Davis did us the honor of drawing out the winning name, Paul
Martin. Paul has decided to donate this dawg, which has over 50 signatures
of University of Georgia letterman, to the Classic Center Arts Foundation.
They have decided to raffle the dawg again. Tickets are available at the
Classic Center Box Office.
